Photographer’s Note
The site of Żółkiew has been inhabited since the 14th century. In 1594, polish Grand Crown hetman Stanisław Żółkiewski fortified the settlement and built Żółkiew Castle 1594-1606.
In the 17th century, it became the royal residence for King John III Sobieski of Poland, and a hub of religious life, arts and commerce.
In the 1930s my grandfather Maksymilian Adam Dobrowolski served in the Stanisław Żółkiewski 6 Cavalry Regiment in Żółkiew.

Hello Wojciech,
In your shot you show very interesting place. I was there more than 30 years ago. The castle was not in so good state as now. Very good presentation of so important historic place. Well done!
Best regards,
Sergiy
