Photographer’s Note

This stele is mounted at the Simferopol – Kerch highway near the turning to the village of Cheremisovka, which is called Kopurli-Koy by the Crimean Tatars. The inscription reads the following:

"ALIM AZAMAT OGLU, BORN IN KOPURLI-KOY, IS A LEGENDARY PERSON, CRIMEAN ROBIN HOOD, AND POPULAR HERO OF THE XIX CENTURY. HIS NAME HAS GONE DOWN IN THE GOLD LINES OF THE CRIMEANS’ HISTORY."

Hi Sergiy,

very original artwork and interesting note. I have checked the wikipedia link and it's nice to know about the Crimean Tatars. The image is well composed. Good tight framing and natural colors. Great job and thanks for sharing!

I don't think I have seen anything quite like this before. It is an amazing and very unusual sculpture. The blue cloudless sky makes a perfect background. With clouds the impact would be less.
