Just after Hailstorm Photo

Photographer’s Note

I was not under that hailstorm, it went very locally, but I saw its sad consequences immediately after it had gone. The cornfield in the picture was not as fortunate as me. The plants were severely damaged, and the whole ground around was covered with hailstones (look at the white stuff in the picture). The layer of the hailstones caused a sharp drop of the air temperature near the ground below the dew-point, and the mist, which you can see, occurred. In a few minutes the scene changed completely, but I had a time to take a couple of shots.

Hi Sergiy,
You managed the light exceptionally well to capture both the ray of sun bursting out of the cloud and the cornstalks within the much darker mist. Your explanation of the weather phenomenon is erudite while still being very understandable.

Such a beautiful image, so special after a storm. I love the rays of light that peaked and pieced through the clouds, the misty landscape fit very well with the beautiful sky and drammatic light, lovely pastel colors. Just beautiful. I really enjoyed it very much.
