Sounds like there was a mass photo shoot that evening, though I can see that this must be a popular place and very photogenic too. Despite the hordes of others, you've managed a good composition and the contrasts are excellent, giving a bold and dramatic atmosphere.

I remember your previous shot from Black Nab very well. I thought that the wreck in that picture was very exciting. This is of course more beautiful with the sunset and the reflections in the water, but your previous photo is much better. I could fully understand that you would have liked to include the wreck once again. It would have been a superb picture. I hope that you will get a second chance to take the picture you wanted. Lovely colours, details in shades and sky reflections
in the water.
Kath, your going on about Saltwick Bay and your photos
made me want to go there and see the spot myself. Today I
even explored the online map to see how to get there but
there doesn't seem to be any road (at least on these maps)
that would show it's possible to get there other way than
walking from Whitby...?
Unless there's a road turning off of the Abbey Lane
(or Hawsker Lane) that leads to the Whitby Holiday Park?

Hi Kath,
Photography has just gotten too popular when you're having to evade a forest of tripods; still you managed nicely. Interesting how the colors almost come out as a sepia photo; it gives a totally different feel than your prior photo. This one is much more mystical.

It happens sometimes, though the clouds is not that appealing it helps to get you a golden reflection at the bottom portion.

Excellent orange tones with superb detail throughout with a strong cmposition. The grad has helped the highlights not burn out in the sunset. The setting is gorgeous, I like this a lot.

Now that's a spectacular landscape !
Careful timing allows ofr an attractive mix of warm areas and black contrasting stones and the big rock rising in the end finally retains the attention, I like this compo a lot.

A beautiful landscape, with a good handling of light and shade.

The point of view and under the sunlight coming in the form side, we can appreciate the great depth of field exists, allowing the details will become apparent by definition, despite the low light.

A terrible athmiosphère comes out of this photo, an athmosphère of sci-fi: colours, contrasts, light...A composition well balanced with these large rocks which leads the galnce toward the largest vertical balck rock. Veru beautiful, very impressive, very extremely.

Hi, Kath. A very good foreground with this kind of stepping stones. The silhouettes of Black Nab and the cliffs in the background stand out very well against the sky which shows nice orange hues. There is a good balance between the cliffs coming down from the top left and the silhouette of Black Nab.

hehe, I'm laughing while imagining the crowd with tripods...Both photos are fantastic and I might even prefer the other because it has a more surreal mood. Quite photogenic that rock at right BG which was wisely used in both captures, but this FG with stones like big medals spread around is also very strong. The warm tones on the sky coming from the left complete the perfect composition. An impressive image.

yes, it is always worth planning where tides are concerned, it's all too easy to get cut off, and there are lots of web info you can get, bbc.co.uk is one of them.

a lovely photo, i actually prefer it when there are a few clouds about as they normally light up with colour, composition is great, and beautiful golden colours.

Although it's pretty cloudy, the sun still managed to cast a wonderful warm light on the wet sand of this place, great reflection of the light on the left hand side. Very impressive!! The compo. has been finely balanced with the sun & black Nab on either side of the frame. The still water of low tide, the reflections of the sky, the rocks in the FG, all contribute to the beauty. The setting reminds me of my Orchha sunset shot, especially with the FG rocks. Maybe it is bad tasted to joke with an image that is so dramatic...

Hi Kath,
You have managed the late day light expertly which has rendered beautiful gold and complimentary blue colors that make a very soothing reflection on the shallow low tide waters and exposed rocks.
The tidal changes that make such coastal images always unique to the time of day when they are shot and it appears you carefully studied them here.

Hello Kath, A little unfortunate with the weather but it makes for a great story & still managed a very nice looking image, colours, reflection, light & detail excellent. The water in places is almost mirror like, I like your low POV capturing those rocks in FG. The effort was worthwhile, even if you had finished up with wet feet.

I like your picture: colors are nice: it gives nice effect on reflections. Meanwhile I think the the sky is bit too grey: I used a lot of ND filters and I have a lot of time this kind of result.
