[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This was taken at Saltwick Bay at the same time as this photo. As I told you before we had gone there because of the rare occasion when sunset coincides with low tide. You cannot reach this part of the bay except at low tide. Before going I had in mind an image taken looking in this direction but with Black Nab (as seen on the previous shot) and the shipwreck in the foreground. As over 30 other photographers had decided to take advantage of the occasion I had to forget that. They were all facing the other way into the low sun with Black Nab in their foregrounds and some in prime positions with the wreck in shot. I turned my back on them and saw how the light from the late sun was illuminating the cliffs.

Hello Kath,

this is also a very beautiful picture, very fine illuminated by the deep sun, great mood and depth..like it a lot..

kind regards Bernd

Hello Kath,
Excellent colours and very good depth in the picture beacuse of the rocks strewn out all along the beach. The hillside looks dangerous. This is not a place where I would like to get caught by high tide.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Kath
Gorgeous lighting on the rocks which are showing strong yellows and a very subtle sky to compliment. The massive cliff draws nicely into the image with excellent still water in the FG. Looks a bit like the West Coast around NZ.
Regards
Jim

Hi Kath,
It's interesting to compare the two shots on different directions. Both really good looking. On this the sunlit stones catch the most attention.
Brighness difference beween reflections on water and the sky tell tales of strongish PP. Or did the polarizer have so different effect on those elements?
Kari

Hello Kath, excellent shot with great golden light on the rocks at front and beautiful atmosphere. Great depth too. I thought it would be also nice in black and white, so I gave it a try on a ws. Hope you like it and you don't mind.
Best regards,
Kostas.

Kath,
Great shot with excellent lighting and color! Your composition is fine with the rocks in the foreground providing nice points of interest. The photo is sharp with great DOF. The hillside provides a nice diagonal through the shot creating a sense of direction.

Asa

Hello Kath,

Le ciel assombri pour l'occasion donne un bon contraste avec le sol presque lumineux. J'aime bien cette falaise qui est très impressionnante car elle semble surplomber la plage.
Bien vu !

A+

Dominique

Hello Kath!
With the right composition of sky, wet ground, cliff and rocks you have created a very pleasant photograph, with great colors, sharpness, textures and amount of light!
TFS - Congratulations!
Best regards,
Neyvan

Hello Kath,
What can I say? A superb image with great colours and clarity. I like the low point of view and the sunset glow over the rocks. An excellent piece of work, very well done.

Hi Kath,
Indeed, a beautiful warm light on the cliffs - something
I still have to learn how to do it properly (provided
I get up early enough and move my lazy a__e to catch that
early morning sun illuminating cliffs in my neighbourhood).
Did you have to have your wellies on?
Robi

Hi Kath,
a good positioning for this shot and i like the fact that its not accessable at all times. You can see the different types of rock by the way the land as eroded and the random rocks in the foreground gives the shot the colour and brightness it needs.
great work.
tfs
regards
paul

Hi, Kath. The setting sun gives a very nice hue to the rocks in the foreground. The cliff slopes down in a diagonal line into the picture pointing to the sea and the horizon. Very good light for a nice evening atmosphere.
Have a nice day,
Philippe

Great composition here, and fabulous use of light!

It is amazing to see how the atmosphere can change by looking just in another direction. This picture feels less lonely than the former upload, but with the same good quality.

Warm colours too.

Hello Kath:

A beautiful composition where the colors stand out as a highlight, especially the terracotta of the rocks, which contrasts well with the environment.

The depth of field, and the sea calm, makes it a very attractive landscape and thoughtful.

John

Wonderful warm late day light lays a pleasing golden glow on the rocks and distant cliffs.

Hi Kath, the light is indeed beautiful and it was a good idea to turn around an let the warm ligh work its magic on the craggy rocks of the bay. It has an almost minimalistic beauty and I like it a lot. Well done.

Hi Kath,
Sometimes just looking to another side can give you very rewarding results. The shipwreck and Black Nab are much more obvious choices to photograph, but you already had good shots of them, so you did well turning your head to the other side. The rocks shining, the tide pools reflecting the sky, the scarp on the BG... All make a beautiful image.

Hola Kath.
Wonderful shot with a great view of the beautiful seascape, the last sunrays of the evening gave you a nice lighted rocks and high cliff during the low tide, colors are very good, also great sharpness and frame. Wonderful composition.
Best wishes.

Hi Kath,
Perhaps you didn't catch what you wanted but you sure catched excellent light conditions on this one. The rest of course is a matter of framing, and you did get that one right! So, you ended up with a frame that a lot of others didn't get, and that shows the the true photographer.
My sinecerest congratulations.
John

Hello Kath,
here another one of your good compositions in which you show us the landscape of this coast.
I love how the low angle light has bought out the texture of the sand and added its own warmth to the scene.
The asymmetric balance gives to much dynamism and much elegance to the image, that has an excellent chromatic level and a great light.
Nice work.
Best wishes,
Josep

Hello Kath,
Interesting note for sharing shooting experience and good pov to show us the rare phenomenon in a low tide evening, nice soft sunlight shinning on foreground rocks and cliff, distinct image, good shoot.
Ally

Hello Kath,

I like this composition very simple but very well balanced and very beautiful.Hot colors especially the yellow of the stones in the FG. Good choice of POV which shows well the height of the cliff.
Best regards of Belgium,
Roger

May be it would have been fun to show a picture with all the tripods in WS... ;-) Good work with the stones in FG that shinne beautiful in golden tones. Excellent diagonal that is completed when connected with the stone at further left. Without that stone this would be more like a < than a diagonal and I prefer the latter. Still, I would like to see the some free space below. I find the b&w interesting in the sky and cliff, but I would never give up on the golden tones.
Have a fun trip to the USA, Kath.

Hello Kath,
You knew exploited this splendid illumination as well as possible. A wild landscape of dream and without visual pollution. Excellent realization.

Hi Kath excellent shot!In your picture the low reception and the chromatic mirror of reflections together the rocks give a composition impressive up to the BG the sky that it adds! Appreciable work.

Hi Kath,

One more comment and you'll get this much deserved 100 points for this gorgeous shot.

Sun along can work magic between these short moments where the light is hot, dramatic and very flattering for landscapes. Everything fits tightly inside the composition and the foreground rocks have been included to determine the final frame.

Nice peaceful moment.

Cheers!

André

Well, it's good that you turned your back Kath and tried different angle from others. This view is excellent too, just not that sharp for taste, but it's beautiful.

Hello Kath,

They are capturing my attention, they are creating depth in the frame...
All together a fine composition with good details, the light is stunning!

Olá Kath,
Amazing light for this archipelago of rocks.
F.

don't despair too much, Kath! This is still an excellent photograph with the late sun illuminating the rocks and the cliffs.
A line of sand seems to have made a natural leading line towards the bottom of the cliffs which has the appearance of a zebra's head stretching towards the ground. Can you see it?

As always, sharp details and fine composition.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Kath,

The cliffs indeed are beautifully illuminated by the low sun, and the rocks stand like sentries in the low tide. It is a picture of solitude and peace. I see that you are shooting at the relatively slow ISO of 100, but holding the shutter speed to 1/4 second. It appears to be a successful combination, allowing you to shoot with an aperture of f/16, and producing excellent depth of field.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Hi Kath, Wonderfully captured texture, great positioning to form an excellent composition, the overall light is contrasting & well managed, a beautifully peaceful scene, TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Hello Kath
It's the light which makes this scene. Like how the low light falls on the boulders & partly on the cliffs. This photo shows how crucial a role, light plays in landscape photography. Well done!
