ten miles inland from whitby is the north yorkshire moors, at the time of year they are a sea of purple as the heather comes into flower, This year is one of the best years i have seen, maybe it is all the rain we have had that is making it thrive.. THe odd shaped pyramid in the back groung is R.A.F Flyingdales an early warning base

Adrian, this looks like a place where endless masterpieces could be made, depending of course on the weather. Nice feel to this one.

Hi Adrian,
Lovely shot, the colour of the heather is amazing.
Like your panoramic presentation, really gives the shot some depth.
Should I expect to see more shots from this location???
Warm wishes
Peter

Hello Adrian,
Yes, the heather has been good this year in my area too. But dull grey skies spoiled the effect for a lot of the flowering time.
You have shown a marvellous swathe of rich colour in this shot. The glimpse of Fylingdales in the distance adds depth, but I think including a piece of wall or similar object in the foreground might have suggested the scale of the moor even more ( although this can look a bit of a cliche , I suppose)
The panoramic format is perfect for this subject.
All the best....Maggie

Hi Adrian, A sea of purple indeed, a great picture of the heather in full bloom, an English beauty, kind regards Wilson.

Hi Nels. We have a lot of heather on the central plateau national park and as it’s an introduced species it is classed as a noxious weed! One of the better looking weeds I’ve seen though ;-). Nice photo. Excellent colour and good depth. Thanks for sharing.
Have a good weekend, Paul.

Hi Adrian

Wonderful colours from the sea of purple heather, great POV.

Derek
