[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Hello Everyone,

Due to poor photographing conditions, I have had to put my 'Textile Mills' theme on hold for a while.

Instead, here is a photograph which I took at Beadnell in Northumberland. It was early evening and the shadows were just beginning to creep over the walls of the harbour. Some fishing boats were moored for the night and I chose to include this one in the shot as it was brightly coloured, had a lovely reflection and it enabled me to include Beach Court (the turreted house in the b/g where we were staying).

If you would like to know more about Beadnell please click here.

Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hello, Bev.

Well I do like this one! In fact, I like it a lot.

I like the composition, the sharpness, the clarity and the soft colours in the background contrasting with the brightness of the boat and its reflections close by.

Superb! Thank you for sharing this one, Bev.

kind Regards,

John.

Hello Beverley,
A very pleasing composition with a good point of view. The image has a nice balance to it with the little boat nicely offsetting the house in the background. I like the panoramic format and close cropping. Good colours and clarity.

Nice Bev, the bright hull in the dark of the quay is a great composition. Detail and color are great.

Hello Beverley

A very nice view of this quiet harbour.
You've taken advantage of a great light to give a very serene atmosphere.
The beautiful blue boat lights up all the composition, it's very well seen.
Very good quality of image, well done.

Regards,
Karine

I am a real sucker for reflections and these are wonderfully sharp and clear. F8 gave you excellent depth as the background is as pin-sharp as the foreground. The evening light was perfect for a beautiful serene image. The house looks like a great place to stay.

Hi Bev,
Beautiful low-tide capture of this charming fishing vessel.
The rich late day light renders very true clear colors and fantastic sharpness.
The lovely blue boat makes a very tranquil reflection in the harbor while the pastel sky above the beautiful old homes and rolling sea grass lends a dreamy feel to this wonderful coastal image.
Regards, Tom

Hello Bev,
Lovely pov to include the colourful boat in the fg that adds a lot of perspective in the composition also the reflection as well!

Hello Bev,
The elegantly shaped small boat and charmingly eccentric building make interesting additions to the pleasant harbour scene. The colours are a nice mix of soft greenbrowns with the touches of sharp 'Greek' blue!
I share your frustration at the poor weather - its not even bad in an 'interesting' way!
All the best....Maggie

Hello Beverley,
the softness of the light helped you to create a wonderful atmosphere, with the lonely boat and its reflections on the canal adding a beautifu touch of vivid colours. Quality is really good, with well visible details throughout and good sharpness. A lovely scene indeed, I like it!
Thanks for sharing it.
Regards,

Igor

Hi Bev,i like a lot this knid of pic,the refelctions in the water are my passion. Very nice background too,a tipical british postcard, excellent work,my best compliments, have a nice day,Luciano

Hi Beverley,
Very fine picture with the slight diagonal of the wall separating the picture into two different parts. Very fine colours and reflection in the lower part and also a fine balance in the upper part.
Greetings from Gothenburg
Gunnar

Hi Bev.
This is a beauty! The reflection, the angled wall, the curve of the beach, the towered house, the pale but detailed sky - it all makes a superb scene. And the colours of the boat really stand out delightfully. And there's enough light to brighten the boat and even cast shadows on its tarpaulin covering. You are very lucky to have places like this to wander about in.
Regards,
Andrew

Hello Beverley,

A very nice photo, good contrast and good use of light. But I like especially your composition very well balanced with the boat (with colors and reflections) in the FG, the wall which gives a beautiful diagonal and the beach and the houses in the BG. I like too the roofs of the houses who exceed behind the dunes.
Have a good day,
Roger

Hi Bev, very nice compoistion with the boat placed well with good use of the rule of thirds. Nice DOF to accentuate the foreground.
cheers
Leon

hello Bev,
What a wonderful harbour scene with such a well balanced composition. The evening light is indeed special.
I like the house in the BG.
Well done!
Joni

Hi Bev,
A lovely waterside scene, light is very pleasant and having included the foreground boat in the scene is a very good idea to give the image depth and highlights from the boat, I like this.
Have a nice day JY

Hi Beverley. So restful this pretty scene.Lovely rich tones and textures and an evocative evening light. The boat is a colourful addition and at the same time bespeaks of repose, the day's work having been done.Beach court looks like a fine establishment. Regards. Klaudio.

Hello Beverley,
