Hello Everyone,

Today, I am posting a shot of the ruined priory at Lindisfarne. In the evening sunlight, it is a romantic and awe inspiring place. It is on Lindisfarne Island and has been an important centre of Christianity since Anglo Saxon times.

I am including a link which will give more of the history of the place and a virtual tour of the information site. To view it please click here.

Remember, Lindisfarne Island becomes cut off from the mainland and can only be accessed at particular times. A timetable is always available to help you to make your decisions about crossing.

Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph.

Hello Beverley! Wonderful church, amazing ruins. Nice POV. Very nice light and bright. Good sharpness. Original shot. Good luck!

Hello Beverley,
A good composition of the priory from a well chosen point of view. The tones and textures in the old stones are particularly well rendered under a pleasing ambient light.

Hello Beverley!
Very interesting and nice spot, with those ruins!
Your photo is sharp, has a great pov and it's very pleasant!
TFS - Congratulations!
Best regards,
Neyvan

Hi Beverley,
This to me seems "postcard perfect".....providing someone like myself, who has not visited Devon, a excellent reflection of the some of the history that is very much part of England. By including the foreground wall, you've created nice depth to the image, and the inclusion of the green grass, adds much needed colour contrast to the old stone work. Very nicely done, well done.
Cheers Grant

Ah, look what just floated by in the gallery...
A very well composed shot of these ruins, with the beautifully lit church building in the background, rising from the ruins. I also particularly like the sun shining into the arched windows of that piece of wall on the right. I'm not sure I like the frame, but the photo is excellent. Perfectly chosen viewpoint.
Regards,
Andrew

Hello Beverley,
this is simply beautiful. You managed to catch a great light which enphasize even more the beauty and the great atmosphere of this place. Very good job in setting up your camera, the colours are wonderful and very natural and every single details is well visible. A truly fine work indeed.
Thanks for sharing it.

Igor

Hello Bev,
You have caught so well the feeling that such places have, late in the day when most of the visitors have departed. The atmosphere is soft and luminous, and very attractive.
It seems late October is a good time to visit!
Best wishes...Maggie

Hi Beverley,
your composition is showing us the true beauty of this amazing ruin. Your POV is excellent and the colours and the light are wonderful. Phantastic work, Beverley!
Warm regards
Harriet

This must be a very original POV Bev. You have used the ruins of the Priory to frame St Mary's Church very well. The evening light coming in from the side is highlighting parts of the old stones beautifully.
Good advice about the crossings. Just last week a Spanish family got cut off and had to go into one of the towers. While waiting to be rescued they watched their car slowly going under water. Apparently they couldn't speak any English so had not understood about the tides.
Hope you had a successful village show. Did you win anything?
Kath

Hi Bev,
Another stunning shot of the lovely English countryside with the highly details ruins seen in excellent clarity and sharpness.
Beautiful pastel sky background with a lovely bit of contrasting green in the courtyard.
Regards, Tom
PS It tickled me to hear that you played Cowboys and Indians with your brothers. Those chilhood memories never fade.

Hi Beverley,
nice shot - I can imagine how much work was involved to build these structures in the first place; it's all in ruins now... Good sharpness, and I like your new frame!
