Photographer's Note

this was taken at greencastle, county down, after the sun had set over carlingford lough. the tide was coming in deceptively fast here as there were no waves just a constant movement of water, and each time i took a picture i had to rush out and move my tripod and camera back about ten metres to prevent it being out of my reach due to the oncoming water.

at greencastle there is an impressive anglo-norman castle, the ruins of an old norman church, and an old irish ferry pier, which are all worth visiting. at the right time, and with a favourable light they are great photographic subjects.

from greencastle there are magnificant views of the mourne mountains, carlingford lough, and across the water, carlingford village, and the cooley mountains in the south of ireland.
