Photographer's Note

Peel Harbour on the west coast of the IOM the main fishing port for the island. It is where Herrings are cured to make the Manx Kippers since the 1870s. In the factory women cut the herrings at a rate of 18per minute they are then salted and hung in the factories original chimneys where they are smoked using oak or wood chip.
At the end of the harbour is the Kipper factory and Museum (not seen here).
I understand it is a very busy fishing port and that the herring season is July & August.
