[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This is woodland moss that covers the Cruach Tairbeirt hills between the trees like a carpet. The soft look and even softer feel to the ground creates such a calm and muffled sound to the world, creating that perfect silence in the air.

It’s tranquillity at its most tranquil...

The darkness of this shot is the way I wanted to express the shot and also the way a Scottish forest looks in August during a dizzly rainfall. It had been raining all morning and still was when I took this shot so the mood was dark and damp. The low cloud was creating a wonderful diffused lighting. I wanted to express this image the way it was in front of me. I was shooting in RAW and the brightness level was shouting at me while I was converting but I left it..this is nature at its barest!
:D

Hello Paul,

this is a beautiful picture of forest full of textures and beautiful green tones. I feel I can almost touch the nice soft pillows on the ground. I think that some of nice details disappeared in the dark so I tried to change in workshop, I hope you do not mind.

Best regards
Romana

Hi Paul,
the theme is marvellous, the pic is a bit too dark in my opinion. Maybe the polarizer was not useful.
The mood of this pure nature is transported very well.
Compliments, Chris

This is a great shot, i have always wanted to take something like this myself but we don't have mossy woodland down this way.........not that i have found anyway!
Anyway, i like this a lot, the composition is good too with the position of the closest trees and the growing bush/tree to the bottom left, all making a great photo :-)

Hallo Paul!
I like this one very much! What a wonderful nearly a bit mystic landscape. Of course I often have seen moss - but not in these quantities. An incredible, a most beautiful sight! The a bit dark picture emphasizes the impression of mystic, of humidity, of calm very well.
Greetings from autumnal Germany!

Paul,

Fantastic scene. These shot's aren't easy - as you probably know. Easy to take, sure, but not easy to capture a true representation of the scene as experienced - hence your comments on "the darkness".

I'd say the darkeness - or the light, depending on your point of view, is about right for a rainy day in Scotland. And, I bet you had to use about -2 exposure compensation to get the camera's meter to understand that!

I've still got a little gripe though! Looks a bit on the soft side - mind, that's better than over-sharpended!

Regards
Colin

Paul,
I always had so far extremely difficulty in capturing shots in the forest like this one here. I don't know where to place the camera, what to crop, what to include and so on ...
This shot seems well balanced in that respect. It just seems somewhat on the dark side and I wonder how it would look like with shifting the curves to the highlight. Just a thought ...
