Port of Leith at the end-point of the “water-of-Leith” trail.
This picture was taken under sudden rain downpour, we had intention to go as far as the colorful Ciara Phillip's Dazzle-ship some 200m down Ocean Dr. – but as much as waited, we had to give up.
The beautiful edifice with a tower, red bricks built is the Forth-Ports Limited building, a port handling company. The modern building on the far side is the Visit-Scotland HQ.
A cropped 16:9 image, I reckon the two lamp-pols are distracting, but there are other elements of interest, so decided to post anyway.

Fine panoramic view on this interesting and varied ensemble of architecture. I find no problem with the lampposts. Very good colours and clarity despite the inhospitable weather. Well worth seeing.

I hope I will face a better weather when I visit the region.
nice image despite the bad conditions. I liked the old building at right, it has a curious architecture.

Bonjour, cher Ike,

A picture with different architecture, of modern to very old building.
Pleasant panorama view about the area.
An excellent composition and perfect presentation.
Very well done, TFS.

Un beau quartier, quoique il semble en construction et que tout semble bien loin de la lentille. Le ciel gris n'arrange pas les choses et garde les choses dans l'ombre.

The crop works well here. The panoramic shape fits the view towards the buildings perfectly, so I guess you got rid of some unnecessary foreground and maybe sky. The subdued colours are quite pleasant and the lamp-posts don't distract me. I usually find a lot of wires across the sky more disturbing.

You have created a fine panorama, probably by cropping some of the sky; there is enough present to identify the weather, emphasised by the wet road surfaces.
Despite the dulness, you have managed to keep the colours of the buildings and the scattered, colourful features.
With the juxtaposition of two such contrasting buildings I can immediately identify which style I prefer, the Forth-Ports Limited building, which is more attractive visually with its repeating arched windows and its distinctive tower.
Probably the newer building is more appealing internally!
My warm regards,

nice the view of this section of the port of Leith, with the moody sky to cover it.The beautiful edifice with the tower is the eye catching of the scene.

The point of view is showing the details of the buildings of the port of Leith. The wideness of the area is giving depth to the scene. The cloudy sky does not hurt the outpuit of the colours. Have a nice dya.

The wide angled, panoramic format suits this image well. Nice contrast between the old Forth-Ports Limited building, at right & the new visit Scotland building at left in the bg. Tfs!

This is a nice panoramic view of the port. It is a shame that the rain did not allow you to proceed any further. It would surely be fun to see that colorful ship up close.
PaulVDV (32799) 2017-03-18 0:04
What a remarkable boat painted in so many colours and with such patterns!
It surely adds colours wherever it may anchor.
The building on the right also looks very beautiful.
A pity that the rain was a bummer.
By crossing the street to avoid the lampposts, you wouldn't most probably not have been able to include the different elements of this picture on one image.
Best regards, Paul

An interesting the panoramic view of Leith.
A good viewpoint of the captured image.
I like beautiful composition, nice colors, excellent sharpness and great details.

Lovely panorama-view of the harbour of Leith. There are a lot of interesting details to admire. For example the multi-coloured boat on the left side deserve in my view a closer observation.
Have a good weekend

Visit Scotland doesn't really have a building which makes you want to visit Scotland, but the rest of the fine panorama view from Leith is much more attractive. This goes for both the old port building and the colourful ship. Very well captured and composed.

what's that, an unexpected rainfall in Edinburgh...no....haha
guess that can happen at anytime, so you have to change your plans. I like this view, its one I've never seen before, this is something very different from the usual Scotland pics.
the rain clouds give a fine atmosphere in my opinion.

Hello Ike, What a bad luck with the unexpected rain. But this view is also attractive. nice building looking like a railway station. Lovely composition.
