Looking south-west over Loch Sunart, near Salen, Ardnamurchan.
Soft morning light struggling through the remnants of the last nights' rain and low cloud.
A superb area, wet or dry.

Excellent composition, Dougie. Great use of the light and weather conditions. Good exposure too, very slow shutter speed: did you use a tripod? You live in a very beautiful part of the world. TFS.

hello dougie
a fine composition, which reminds me more of ancient japanese paintings than anything i've witnessed in the UK. the area sure seems superb, but your rendering of it is excellent too ;))

cheers,
kristaps

Hello, Dougie.

To my mind, this is just fabulous!

The atmosphere, the colours, the lighting - all fabulous. And, of course, tecnically superb with perfect exposure, contrasts and incredible clarity and sharpness as is always the case with your pictures.

It never ceases to amaze me why some pictures garner lots of votes and positive critiques/comments even though, to my mind, they are not outstanding: on the other hand, a wonderful picture like this passes with little or no comment. I rather suspect that it depends a little upon the impact which the thumbnail picture has: thumbnails are what people see first of all before they view the whole picture and, if the thumbnail does not impress them, they will look no further. It makes me think that perhaps you have the right idea in "switching off" your points system.

Anyway, in the end, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and the appreciation of any form of art is very subjective indeed. All I can say is that I find this a wonderful image which, to me, portrays perfectly an early morning in the Highlands.

Thank you for this one, Dougie.

Kind Regards,

John.

Another perfect rendering of the colours of the west, Dougie. Being subjective, I like it even better if much of the pale sky is cropped off - have you tried that?
Thanks, Winifred
