Isle of Hoy
 |
|
| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
This is the isle of Hoy in the Orkney Islands, north of scottish mainland. During the ferry trip from Thurso to Stromness you pass by this wild island with dramatic cliffs, the highest in Britain.
I love to take pictures of cliffs. This shot has come out quite well, I think
notes---
My analogic compact camera had a problem at the time. The shutter didn't work properly and this is why the centre of the pic is so bright compared to corners... but it also gave that little extra exposure that let it capture the colors so well.
Still, in fact, I managed to take great pics, but it took a bit of editing as the pics were slightly red.
colors
I was just trying to take a red color cast out from the pic manually, with curve adjustement. Now the colors are a bit strong...but it looks good.
The green here looks a bit unreal (anyone wants to try a workshop?) but...
well the sky was bright for real and the light, close to dusk, was terrific. the picture is not that different from the original. |

This is a superbe shot, Congratulations.
But the colors are a beat flashy or that real???
Hi Patrick - great view, made even better by the dramatic light and clouds, I don't mind the deep colours, though the water looks too dark. The use of polariser filter may help with the exposure.
Hi Patrick. I like the lighting in this picture, and the clouds look neat, but I think the colors are a little off. I tried a quick workshop. I hope you like it. ~Amber
