An emerald bay in the south of Orkney archipelago. The small building visible in the right part of the photo is the visitor center of the "Tomb of the Eagles".
The tomb is estimated to be around 5000 years old. It was discovered in 1958 by a farmer. For years it has been hiding artefacts including bones of 340 people, ceremonial tools, beads, pottery, working tools etc.
You can get some info on it from the www.tomboftheeagles.co.uk site. |
