Photographer’s Note
This is Lanimer Week in the Royal Burgh of Lanark and Lanimer Day is tomorrow (Thursday).
Lanark is one of the oldest Royal Burghs in Scotland, having been granted its Charter by King David (1124-1153 A.D.). Lanimers is a yearly festival in early June in Lanark and starts on Monday with the Perambulation of the Marches and later the Shifting of the Standard with the inauguration of the new Lord Cornet, the standard-bearer of the Burgh.
The week culminates in Lanimer Day on Thursday when the Lanimer Queen is crowned and there are processions, dancing, music and general revelry throughout the town, everyone greeting each other with "Happy Lanimers!"
Here, a jovial Bill Hutton, ex-Lord Cornet from 1984, wishes the assembled crowds at Monday's celebrations "Happy Lanimers!"
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

hello John,
excellent portrait, a man of his type. Good colour and sharpness. And you have caught a facial expression that is engaging and expresses the day.

Hello John,
I love the joy on this man's face! This is a sharp, beautiful close-up. We can even read the details on the ribbons. :-)
