[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This one is taken in the village of Slingsby that is situated on the Malton and Thirsk railway and near a tributary of the Rye, seven miles west by north of Malton, and 28 miles north of York.

This is one of the very few Yorkshire villages that retains its maypole, a mast of fir, rising 80 feet above the ground and is a centre of a village tradition of dancing around it. The event takes part every May.

Unlike the photo which shows a girl dancing round the maypole, here you can see a local squeezebox player playing traditional music to dance to.

The event has many spectators every year - not only locals but also visitors from around the world come to see and taste the atmosphere of this particular and rare event in Yorkshire.

Oh my I love the light coming through the hat and reflecting like tiny stars on him. He looks as if he takes his art very seriously, but i alos detect almost a sad or nostalgic look on his face.
Excellent framing giving us the feeling of the festival but also the attention is on the man. The sharpness on him is so very good.
I only wish you had the rest of his arm there, but it is a very small thing.
Godd work Robi,
Cristina

A very nice portrait of this accordian player, Robert. It is interesting how you have used shadow to help define him instead of light. The light surrounds him, but his face is in shadow. I think this is an interesting and effective creative choice here.

Very nice capture, Robi - I like how the sun breaking through the hat of the accordion player makes these patterns of light and shadow on his face. Good portrait work, and according to the expressions of the folks it seems to have been a quite cheerful event.

Interesting composition here, I like the composition, the shot is very natural and non posed, very good lighting too

A very colourful event shot, crisp and clear. You have done a good job of angling the accordion and the man's arm into the foreground; its very artistically portrayed overall. A most pleasing shot, Robert. Well done.

A more shallow DOF probably. But I have no complaints. I like the play of light on the face.

What a nice name : squeezebox :^)
Since I've been member of TE, I improved my english !!
Now I must get the accent ;)
The photograph is good but I would have prefered to see the whole hand of the squeezebox player. But at least we can enjoy the light on the face of the man.

Hi Robert. A very nice simple shot with good light. Also another good note. How do you like that Microdrive CF card? At any rate I love the shot.

Well observed, I too enjoy the light showing through his hat onto his face :)

Hi Robert,
Nice compo - I like the light across the hat - Thanks
Gaby

Hi Robi,
Great shot! I can hear the music. The shadow and little sun spot on the face of the accordion player give a very warm impression.

hi Rob

very nice shot my friend
very nice notes as well

!

K.

Great concentration for this player, the composition in portrait is good with a nice and perfect profile.
Right DOF and the second profile is interesting too: the player - the public.
Thanks for informations in the note.
Compliments
