This phot owas taken in Saltburn, just after sunrise. I havent got any photos "in reserve" and so was looking for something half decent to post today. i liked the idea behind this one, with the cliff, people and dogs in silhouette. But the sun is a bit bright and creates the lens flares which arent so attractive!

Im sure this was taken with the fastest shutter speed available on my camera so what I am asking of you all is for any other tips which i can bear in mind the next time I am in such a situation to reduce the suns brightness and also try and eliminate the lens flare!

Hopefully I will have some new subjects to post soon!

The cliff is huntcliff and the people were out walking their dogs which can be seen froloking near the suns reflection. I only wish I had a better soom so I coudl have captured the dogs better!

Great photo, especially since you were shooting into the sun.

WE've had to wait a while for this one Mark. It's a bit Danbyesque! I love the composition and thank goodness other people were about at that ungodly hour to provide the interest!
I've seen worse lens-flare and you'll always have it shooting into the sun. Can you get a lens hood to fit?. We have one for all our lenses, but they don't always work. I sometimes hold my hand above the lens too but make sure it's out of shot1 :o)

Bonjour Mark,
un contre jour bien réussi, les deux personnes semblent marcher sur l'eau.
La falaise se détache très bien et semble si loin.
Une photo originale sur le plan technique.
Best regards.
Daniel.

nice composition and nice scene ... i like this light with the reflect on the sand ... it's just a shame for the sky with the flares or something like that.

Hi Mark,
composition is just fine and the colous also. The only thing are this flares... well I must say you are lucky man, not because I'd tell you the solution for I don't know it, but because when I do this, my pictures get all full of red spots beside this flares.

Another great shot i agree that the sun is slightly bright but you cant really complain about it
you seem to get the best out of saltburn having just looked through your files again
well done

Hej Mark,
Every time you show us this place is a very good one to shoot pictures and I think it's very nice you show it in different circumstances. This is also very nice and I especially like the people and the dogs. Well done again!

Lars

Well I know how easy it is to screw up photos taken towards the sun. But this is gorgous Mark and I love the detail and teh gorgous color too. Amazing balance here too.
Cheers.
Os I have a very different photo posted..

Hi Mark;

Not a bad shot considerng you were shooting into the sun. To be honest the lens flares do bother me a bit, and I think they could be easily removed in Photoshop (I'll post a workshop when I get home, as I'm at work right now). Tips for future such shots; fast a shutter speed as possible, higher aperature, maybe doubling up on filters (I've seen people double up on polarisers and Neutral Density filters to darken the image with interesting results). Personally, I don't think this is one of your better shots. But I do like like the inclusion of the silhouetted people and dogs...

Cheers Mark,
- Dan

A great shot against the sun Mark, for me the lens flare does'nt damage the result ..the composition has much space and the light glares are wonderful..I don't know how you can reduce this effect but it is not always a bad effect..
well done,
Ciao, Fabio.

I don't find the lens flare too much obtrusive, so you can leave it there and still have a good picture. I like how you got this silhouettes, even the mountain is like a silhouettes because it is very dark.

It’s a good composition here
The diagonal line here the people are walking is leading us to the cliff (that’s a very good POV)
The cliff is a bit on the big size because it does take the attention from the people a bit (but not too much)
The sky is perfect with all the tones going from light blue to yellow
But the reflection is a bit blinding ( cant see the aperture value) but for the future have a look on the display and adjust the aperture

Well captured and presented

Ishai

Mark:
the most important thing to me, inside this picture is the people walking to the iluminated part. I like the sun as a beautiful element and the mountain as the background. Well done!

Hiya Mark, I think the people and their three dogs makes it a great shot rather than an average shot. The lens flare does spoil it a little but it is still a great shot.
Nice one!

Ged.

beautiful picture .... lovely and quiet pic

Very effective.

Hi Mark, another beautiful shot in your gallery...this is so peaceful and relaxing. The composition is great, but what I like most is the light- very often when you take a shot like that- against the sun you end up having a blinding effect, here it's so well-balanced. You can look at the sun, enjoy the light without pain in your eyes:-) thanks for that!
regards!
Aleksandra

it's very attractive sunrise...
like very much the greyish blue sky and the bright rays... relfection is super...
will it be more better if the men were too close to the rays?
regards
