White beaches

| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
Most people associate white sand beaches with beautiful tropical islands, but it isn't necessary to travel that far from Britain to find them.
This scene was taken just a few miles from Mallaig in the west of Scotland. Having recently returned from Hawaii the scene reminded me very much of Kailua. The water is a bit warmer in Hawaii however. |

Hi Keith. Interesting - I don't normally associate this sort of beach with Scotland, and I can well imagine that the water would be a bit chilly. Love the curve of white sand and the beautiful clouds. Nice to have the distant buildings there too, adding a human touch. The image does look a fraction soft on my screen, but it's a lovely scene.
Hi Keith,
Wonderful shot! I love the white beach in the foreground and the beautiful coloured water. The distant view is also amazing with some great cloud formations.
The only thing I can comment on is that the image doesn't appear very sharp and the horizon seems just a tad off. I hope you don't mind, but I did a little workshop.
Greetings,
Ann
Lovely shot Keith - nice to see some British landscape the looks tropical! bet the sea is rather cold but would be a great place in summer! youve caught the sky nicely in this shot thanks to the polariser, nice work!
I'm convinced we share a mutual love of certain British villages..! This is probably a little way of out Mallaig to the south along the great railway...but goes a distance towards showing how glorious Britain (and Scotland in particular) can be....on the one sunny day we get per year in August.
Personally I think the composition is just choice...but I think I might be inclined just to rotate those few fractions of a degree to the right that would be necessary to make the horizon a horizon!
Looks almost Caribbean, doesn't it..?
I've just noticed someone's already commented on all the above, but then you don't get points for accurate observation in this game do you..?!
Hi Keith wonderfull place real good POV and great colours to bad the sharpness was not there, it had made a great postcard.Alain
I know this area well and you are right it is not what you expect to find in the highlands. There are also palm trees that grow there due to the Gulf stream. Thanks for sharing this.
