[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Saturday August 5 2006: Stop the War Coalition rally for an unconditional ceasefire, starting at Speaker's Corner, Hyde Park, London.

This is my first post in a long time. I'm painfully aware of how this shot will never be what it could have been if this young protester had glanced in my direction.

This young girl was head of the procession acting as a sort-of poster girl for the movement, certainly a striking image.

UPDATE: It's hard to get across that I was at the march just to document the event. I did my best to be as impartial as I could, but this isn't always easy, especially when surrounded by so many people all fighting for a single (well, actually many) goals.

I had a link here to the organisers of the march but I've removed this now... if you are interested to find out more then you can search Google for the necessary dates and so on :)

Hello Lewis,
It is a very fine quality photo.
I made some points on T.E. Lebanon and don,t want this sight to become political.
Your photo says what most people in the world think.
Too much damage done to Lebanon.
regards and thanks for your showing.
Rob.

Hello Lewis!
Photographically speaking, this is a very nice portrait of the girl, with good Bokeh and clarity. Indeed, if she would have stared directly to the camera, it would have made a greater impact, but this pose is also very appealing and making the statement clear.

And politically speaking - I REALLY don't like the way you mix politics in your post. OK, you have your opinions, I respect that. BUT, bringing it into TE in the manner of promoting an "anti war" rally, that's another thing. THATS WRONG.This is not the place to talk politics or to promote this or that agenda - there are other sites for such things.

As a photographer to a fellow photographer, and for the sake of TE forum as a travel photography community, I ask you to remove the link from this post. The war is cruel on both sides - I suggest we leave it outside TE...
Thanks
Chen

Hi Lewis
The portrait is very successful, it deserves that we linger there.
And for the peace message that it vehicle I completely agree that we post photos reminding us (about is the cause) that the peace in the world is the most precious good on earth.
