[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
The Victoria Tower was purpose-built for keeping records after the great fire of 1834 destroyed the Palace of Westminster and almost all the House of Commons records. The House of Lords records survived because they were then held in the Jewel Tower, which was remote from the main building, and can still be seen across the road from the Victoria Tower. Charles Barry's winning design for the new Palace featured a tower over the Royal entrance every storey of which included record rooms. When the wrought iron flagstaff was put into position in 1855 the Tower was proudly claimed to be the largest and highest square tower in the world, 323 feet high to the base of the flagstaff and a further 72 feet to the top of the Crown at its summit.

Hi Asa!
A great architectural picture! You had a very favourable light when taking this one and the framing by the green trees works very well here. I like the "relaxed" atmosphere on the lawn in front of the tower.
Greetings from Germany - and all the best for 2007, especially health!
Frank

Asa,

Wonderful composition and use of the trees framing this beautiful structure .. the people on one hand are a little distracting .. I would advise next time shouting very loudly "he's loose, he's loose run for your lives!!!!" .. well maybe that wouldn't be wise .. and in any event they add a great sense of scale ..

Hi Asa,
This is a glorious piece of architecture and your photo shows up the detail clearly. I like how you have include the branches of the tree to the right and other part of a structure to the right also. Very impressive. Happy New Year.
Cheers,
Debbie

Hi Asa,

A perfect shot. The tower looks really impressive between the trees. Excellent light and natural colours. Happy New Year!

Hi Asa
A nice and sharp picture of this tower allowing us to see much detail in its fine stonework. The trees on either side frame this well. Nice work - a good quality shot.
Best wishes
Mark

You did well to look around for a new perspective on this building Asa. The usual shots from the virtually treeless Parliament square aren't nearly as interesting. There is just a slight lean to the right which is easily corrected.

Hi Asa,

very good photo! Really good!
The sharpness is perfect, the colours are nice, the POV unusual and very good and the composition is wonderful.
You have done a great job, by including all these people! That underlines the real size of this beautiful, gorgeous tower.
I have been there twice was really nice! :)

Thanks for sharing,
Eugen

Hi Asa,

I like very much the smoothness of the photograph. A very good framing to present the superb architecture of this whole to us which seems lace. A perfect management of the light and colors give an undeniable quality to the photograph, cheer and thank you for the comment.

With all my friendships,

Jean-Charles

Lovely feeling of summer 2006 in London with nice POV of the Houses of Parliament.
I think a little cropping on the bottom and left hand side would make the photo even better.
Enjoy your weekend! Simon
