Boeing 747-400 of Singapore Airlines on the airport of Manchester.

Air travelling is interesting: you never know where you end up. On our way back from New Zealand we were supposed to use Lauda Air between Singapore and Vienna. But that was cancelled, and we were rerouted via - Manchester! Half away round the world and then a few hours back. This detour also meant that all our flights were on different airlines: Tyrolean Airlines, Lauda Air and Qantas towards New Zealand. Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines and Finnair on the way back to Finland.

Scanned from negative.

Hi Kari - that's quite a diversion, as Manchester to Helsinki must be around 3 hours flying time! I like this view out onto the busy apron as we can see a lot of activity around the aircraft itself, and you have a good view of the 747, the push back truck under the nose emphasises the size of the plane itself. A pity about the dull weather, but it always rains in Manchester!

Well done Kari, you show how big is a 747 and you show the routine of big airports.
But was raining on the day if don't will be a better picture.

Terve Kari,
As long as I have not personally tested the A380, the B747 remains my personal favorite when it comes to travel far, and you've got here one of the most elaborated variants with the SQ Megatop, due to its largely white structures it stands out well in the cliche-esque british weather that accounds for poor light and greys in the rest of the frame, it looks fine to me for a scan.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves
