Photographer’s Note
«To Serve & to Protect» Serie - Image #5
Make no mistakes, this heavy-armed police is not fed on doughnuts...
He’s a guarding officer at the gate of 10 Downing Street, residence and office of the UK Prime Minister. Although it was raining cats and dogs, he seems alert and in control.
I could only imagine the kind of training he had received to deserve such an important task, maybe something between a SWAT member, an elite-commando sharpshooter and a ninja. A british ninja, that is...
He wasn’t disturbed by my camera, because «The Eye» knows...

My title also make reference to the other «Eye» of London, the tallest panoramic wheel of the world.

Hi Andre,
This guy looks like he means business. I like how you have captured hime behind the metal bars as if he is in prison where the criminals should be. Well seen!

Ah! That eye is amazing! That single detail makes the whole picture. He scatters, he controls, he protects. What an eye! :) It's a great picture, my favorite from the Serve & Protect series.

Looking at your excellent series of shots of policemen from around the world, this is my favourite. Your title is very apt, as it's that eye that really makes this image a success. Without it, it would just be a shot of a policeman standing behind some railings, but the inclusion of that eye, alertly scanning his surroundings, really brings the whole thing to life.
Excellent work Andre.
Cheers,
Ben
