Hi Andre,
You are to good for this world when seeing the perfect catch you still take the time for shooting a picture for someone else ;-)
But, the blue hour still works here. There is a nice deep blue gradient in the sky with the moon proud above.
Light on the bridge is stunning, exposure and sharpness on that part is really perfect, that 8 sec really paid off.

Hey Andre, this sky works just fine for me. It's not completely dark; you can still see hints of blue. Perhaps one of the unintended consequences here was getting the brighter moon, which adds much to the composition.

L'effet laiteux de la Tamise est particulier et donne une certaine originalité à un cliché ja fait mille fois ! Le long temps de pose fait que les parties statiques de la photo sont bien nettes alors que d'autres sont floues. C'est judicieux. Je suis très heureux de te rencontrer à Martigny (devant une bonne raclette ? ;-))
Pour voir la vie en bleu, je conclue donc qu'il faut ne pas être gentil avec les autres....

LOL mon bon cousin devenu le photographe officiel des hordes de touristes avec compact (pas Nikon, j'espere, le compact ???), ca te fera une bonne lecon, si tu veux devenir le photographe officiel de Lonely Planet pas de compromis, tu balances tous ces casse-c***lles dans la Tamise presto et tu fais ta photo a la blue hour. Donc t'as rate la blue hour, mais bon t'as au moins eu la lune en guest star, et puis quand meme en la regardant sans parti (bleu) pris, elle est tres bien ta photo, tu as trouve un bon angle et tu as bien fige l'eau avec la pose longue.
A bientot, ne rate pas l'avion !

Don't underestimate yourself Andre.
You've done your best to capture the blue hour: Arrived there just on time, ran to and fro with your 5D and tripod rocking and rolling in their sacks, even tried to have god's mercy by doing good and paying atteniton to that pretty couple.
It is a blue hour as it could be, how you selected the 8 sec.s is questionable though. f/18 granted you shiny stars and i appreciate your f selection and i congratulate your ISO 100 idea. I think 8 seconds came just right long after setting these values...

I would say again: Don't underestimate yourself Andre. Yes, it might have been photographed billions of times, but you are one of the high quality photographers in TE, and having one of those billion photos in TE from such a qualified camera is the pride of TE community.

September 1st has already arrived, you'll be travelling along Europe for two full months (without visiting my country, alas). Do not ever think the same way and take photos of everything you see, be sure that they will have been photographed since the beginnig of time. But we want here YOUR versions. With top notch quality.

Hi Andre, In my opinion there was no need to go fishing for compliments ( :~))) since you did a great job here. The blue hour still works due to the appearance of the moon. A great shot!!

l'heure bleue est toujours le top pour faire des photos de nuit avec en plus de tel sujet tu ne pouvais pas faire mieux, la netteté est splendide l'eau ressemble à un miroir, Excellent

je comprends ton désapointement, mais laisse-moi le relativiser: ok, un ciel à l'heure bleue est superbe et sans doute plus joli en soit qu'un ciel noir, mais je trouve que le noir fait d'avantage ressortir le sujet principal, ce qui est le cas ici... Donc, je pense que tu n'as pas de regrets à avoir sur ce coup là. ;-)

Hi Andre,
Well the good samaritan in you did not negatively affect your shot of this famous bridge....you still managed to achieve an excellent result. The gradient of the blue night sky is a strong point in the image, although technically everything seems spot on. You've managed the difficult lighting extremely well and the reflections in the water provide the finished touch. Overall a great photo...well done.

I had the same experience the other day, with a family wanting me to take their photo, meanwhile I'm missing the best light. Oh well. We'll be blessed with good light on another occasion for our good deeds :)
This photo reminds me very much of my own. We chose the same angle and composition. A bluer sky might look better, but I like this very much. The black sky makes the moon stand out better perhaps.
I'm looking forward to seeing all your photos from Europe when you get back.

salut André,
cette photo plaîrait beaucoup à ma petit soeur qui rêverai aux princesses et aux princes. Oui elle me fait penser a un câteau alors que c'est un pont. Avec toutes les lumières qui donnent dessus on croirait un pont en or. C'est bien vu de l'avoir prix la nuit même si tu aurai préférer de la prendre plus à l'heure bleu. C'est gentil à toi d'avoir aider ces passant pour leur photo.

Avec tout ces contretemps, tu n'a pu faire la photo désirée mais il n'en demeure pas moins que ceci est une fichu de belle prise. Les photos nocturnes sont toujours spectaculaires. Le temps de pose prolongé a rendu l'eau de la Tamise comme du satin. Même la lune y met son grain de sel.
