Photographer's Note

On a fine Indian summer day this path in the north west Lake District beckons to the hill walker.
Ahead is Crag Hill and just below the crags in the centre of the picture is Force Crag Mine, one of the last Lakeland lead mines to close.
TYwo and a half miles from the small village of Braithwaite, te mine used to produce barytes, iron pyrites, galena cerussite and stolzite.

The mine was initially opened in the 1840's and a serieds of 'levels' can still be seen in the hillside
