This shot was taken from in front of Holyrood castle facing the new Parliament building. The weather did not cooperate on this day and we only had a few peaks of sun all day.
Scotland's new Parliament sits at the foot of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile in front of the spectacular Holyrood Park and Salisbury Crags. Constructed from a mixture of steel, oak, and granite, the complex building has been hailed as one of the most innovative designs in Britain today.
Drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape, the flower paintings by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the upturned boats on the seashore, Enric Miralles, one of the world's premier architects, developed a design that he said was a building "growing out of the land".(The Scottish Parliament)

Hello Asa,
very nice the view of the Scottish Parliament. The architectural style is somehow different from the parliaments that we know. The modern style is dominated. The nice colours and light as the sharpness make the scene interesting.Informative your note too.

Hi Asa,
well captured interesting shot of a good diagonal perspective. The pov is well chosen and the light is well managed.
Well done! Tfs and Merry Christmas!

Dear Asa,
Nice photo indeed. This place is very interesting because it is in the centre of Edinburgh but if you take the same picture from a different angle, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere as a green hill starts at the end of the street.
Did you get a chance to visit the inside of the parliament? If not, one day, I'll post a picture of the council room which is very modern but light and nice at the same time
Estelle

Hello Asa -

I was just here at the end of September and I think you captured the weather and skies as well as they get. This image is a very good documentary image but it lacks a human element, IMO. Technically it is top notch both in exposure and sharpness. Well done!

Thank you for sharing.

John

BTW - I think this is one ugly building. My wife and walked around it and looked at some of the Scottish historical elements with interest but overall it lacks in appeal. My wife commented that the building gave her the creeps.

Hello Asa,
this building is as interesting as those of colonial missions. Special thanks for the good note. Buildings of modern architecture are usually not easy to show properly but you were able to capture the mass, the structure and the atmosphere. I think also the weather was not against you: the light shadows enhance the caracter of the unusual building full of contrast much better than strong direct light producing deep shadows.
Briefly: very interesting architecture on a really good picture!
Best whishes
Laszlo

Hi Asa,
Une photo intéressante avec cette architecture contemporaine bien mise en valeur.
Un tout bon cadrage
Best regards

Hello Asa. An interesting photo. If one regards it as Thumbnail, it looks, as if one build there and one recondition. If one opens the photo, the mistake is cleared up fast. It concerns a modern and beautiful building. It work-inviting and not so rejecting, like many administration buildings. The motive is worth seeing and photographically outstanding realized. In addition an informative text. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Asa.

I think this is a really good picture! You have got a good point of view here and have included a good composition as well. I think you either love or hate this building, but this picture captures it very well!

My friend was telling me that the design around the windows were ment to look like curtains, we think they look more like guns!

TFS!

Blair
