[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This enormous bird won first prize in one of the many Poultry classes at the Bingley Agricultural Show.
It reminds me of the Old Nursery Rhyme:-

One, Two Buckle my shoe
Three, Four Knock at the door
Five, Six Pick up sticks
Seven, Eight Lay them straight
NINE, TEN BIG FAT HEN
Eleven, Twelve Dig and delve
Thirteen, Fourteen Maids-a-courting
Fifteen, Sixteen Maids in the kitchen
Seventeen, Eighteen Maids in waiting
Nineteen, Twenty My plate's empty

The shot was taken in very low light in a crowded marquee - so hand held with a slow shutter speed.

Hello Maggie,

What a great pov!
The hen almost fills the frame. It reminds me so much of wonderful collages I used to do with the children where the feather textures were emphasised above all else.
Your shot gives the illusion that the children are caged too and the hen is just tolerating their presence!
For low light, your colours are amazingly bright and the exposure sharp for a slow speed, hand held!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Good morning Maggie,
really this close up shot make this enormous bird even more huge.I like the cute faces of the two children and the curiosity of them for it.Excellent the colors and the light.Well done.

Have a nice day,Danos

If it won first prize it must be considered a good thing for a hen to be fat. (Is it a hen or a cockerel?)Excellent shot of it while the children were marvelling at its size. Good timing.

Hi Maggie,
That's a funny one. You were a little bit to close and cut pieces of the hen but it doesn't really matter.
Cheers
Marc

Well, it's a Big Fat Hen indeed, Maggie - much bigger than
my Spanish one!
Good tight framing and priceless kids' faces looking at
this beast of a bird in amusement!
Beautiful and well kept hen!
