Photographer’s Note
On this picture you've a beautiful view on the Selimiye Mosque (formerly St. Sophia Cathedral) that is located in the northern (turkish) part of Nicosia. The minarets can not be overseen since they have a nice blueish color.
The foundations where laid in 1209 but the cathedral was not consecrated until 1326. The interior itself is plain giving a sensation of space and serenity.
The City mentioned here is Lefkosa which is the turkish name for Lefkosia (Greek) or, like we call it, Nicosia.

I like the way this scene has been composed edouard. The width and the perspective are lovely and allow enough space to pack the vastness

This is really a fine and outstanding building and I like the high POV from which you took it that shows us the whole surroundings of the mosque. (I suppose the quality of the photo depends on the long focal lens you used). An interesting document about this little known city.
Have a nice day (and week) and happy Easter (I'm just leaving and come back next week)
Ciao,
Donato

Bonjour Edouard,

Hi Edi
Interesting information and nice photos of Cyprus.
I see two flags of Turkey and Greece.
It is a pity that the beautiful island and people can not live safely without borders;
Regards
Andrey

Hallo Edi!

Hi Edi,
Thats a nice POV,good focus. You need to manage the light a little better as it does seem over exposed. Try adjusting brightness and contrast.

Hi Edouard,
I like this photo, and I like the way the mosque stands out among all these low houses and against the hazy distant hills. The small flags are a bonus ;)
Concerning the composition I (as always) have my own opinion... but this is merely an opinion :) It seems to me that the building in the bottom right corner looks distracting (as the main aim and subject of this photo was the mosque, if I am not mistaken?) and the balance of the composition looks a bit "shaky", and I also thought to crop a little of the bottom...
So I've made a WS photo, too... if you don't mind? :)
Best regards,
and a Happy Easter week!

Bonjour Edouard
Nice capture of the attractive architecture from Nicosia that is usually not seen on TE, though it seems a shortage of definition a little. A compression effect by the telephoto of 190mm is great.
Best wishes, Hisashi

Edi, this is a PERFECT TE photo (even if TE is less so these days). A Mosque from a cathedral, looks like the minarets are the only outward change. Great details and color and a superb post though I have to admit I would like a view of the interior.
Greg
