Photographer's Note
Eric I of Denmark, or Eric Good, was born in 1060. He was elected King in 1095; had a reputation of a strong and loud man, and was wise politician with elements of populism in his behavior - well-accepted by the Denmark of his time.
After the killing of four of his men in his own hall happened Eric claimed that he will go to Holy Land to pilgrimage.
King travelled through Novgorod and Kiev in Russia to Constantinople, took a ship to Cyprus with the intention to go to Jerusalem, freshly taken from the Muslims.
But he died suddenly there, and his wife, Queen Boedil, also died, but later, already in Jerusalem.
Here are his grave - King from the far North, standing amidst the ancient ruins in the far South.

Hallo from Germany!
A really interesting and worth-seeing and worth-reading contribution - in terms of TrekEarth! I like this simple and somehow dignified memorial stone. Travelling always has been dangerous ... ;-)
Greetings from a still sunny and warm Westphalia!
