Photographer's Note

Romet is a brand of Polish bicycles, something that we all used to ride before our market was flooded with modern mountain bikes (well, except those who owned the bulky Ukraine:-)). It's been years since I last saw someone use one of those old models in Poland, and here we go to Iran only to see that a friendly geography teacher, as well as a self-proclaimed propagator of Iranian history and culture named Ali is using a 30-year old Romet. That's not the only interesting vehicle he owned, an even more curious is a car which used to belong to someone working for the now non-existant US Embassy...pretty cool.
We met Ali several times, he's a very rich source of information on all that may interest you about Iran, not to mention an exclelent guide to the less known eateries that serve food we didn't have a chance to eat elsewhere. I bet that if you go to Imam Square, he'll spot you sooner or later- if you're addressed by a slim, unremarkably looking yet very friendly guy with a Polish bike, don't hesitate and let him guide you:-)
