[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
This is the oldest picture I have so far posted on TE. It beats a photo from Iraq, posted last February, by about a week. It's from the same journey in 1970, when I first travelled outside Europe.
This is the entrance to the majestic Sheikh Lotfollah mosque in Isfahan in Iran. The mosque was built between 1615 and 1618 during the reign of Shah Abbas of the Safavid dynasty.
This picture was taken with a very simple camera on an Agfa Color slide.

hi Gert, wonderful entrance and excellent shot.

Nice old shot, older than me :-D

About the subject, I call this one The blue mosque, as this is a very special piece of art in both Iranian art and Islamic art ...

TFS,

Shahab,

Hej Gert,
An absolutely great picture! If this is your oldest photo, why have you waited so long to post it? This is really a marvellous mosque and this photo shows the full magnificence. And you also added yet another country to your list! Is there anyone on TE with more countries?

Hi Gert,
1970...man you come from far. A complete different world than it is today, but still these buildings stand the test of time. These kind of pictures can still be made today, but thinking about the time that you made it must be something special, not at the least for yourself in remembering on how you made this trip..!!!
Regards, Henk

Oh man, 38 years is a long time for a photo for you have done extremely well in maintaining your slides in good condition. I wish mine were good as this but unfortunately most of them got fungus and I do not know what to do about it.
The picture is excellent, with superb definition and colours. And that man simply adds the scale. Superb work. Thanks.

Hej Gert,
the photo is really so very old! And you've done huge work to make it look so, as if it was taken not long ago - I mean, techincally... in the age of digital photography! :)
I like the little figure at the foot of the stairs of the big mosque. Without this person the photo would have lost something, I guess... The composition is great!

Elena
