برج آزادی, Borj-e Azadi: Freedom Tower.
Built in 1971 in commemoration of the 2,500th anniversary of the Persian Empire, this "Gateway into Iran" was named the Shahyad Tower but dubbed Azadi (Freedom) after the Iranian Revolution of 1979.
It is 50 metres (148 feet) tall and is completely clad in cut marble.
There are a few pictures of Azadi on TE already, but this is my take.
I wanted to capture the atmosphere around it (with cars, noise, roadworks) and lots of big city activity buzzing around it.
This was my first visit to Iran and visiting Azadi Square was a great introduction to life in Tehran!
Iran is an amazing and special country and what better icon to start my Iran gallery than with the symbolic Azadi! |

Good pov to show the magnificient Gateway and broad road with busy traffic, nice to see background local buildings all in the same color, thanks for sharing.
