Photographer’s Note

I managed capture this lovely old man at Sabaa Nissan water plant while I was there as part of the human shield action to Iraq. I didn't get his name unfortunately because I couldn't speak enough Arabic and he had a quiet demeanor. I often wonder if he's still alive.

Great entry, Christiaan, his gaze seems to show goodness, and maybe behind, an hint of sadness or weariness. We are drawn towards him as if he was really looking at us now. You last sentence makes this mesmerizing portrait even more gripping.
