Photographer's Note
This 4th century Mausoleum is one of the best preserved Roman buildings in Israel, located in El'ad, alongside route 444, at 32.047, 34.946 on the map.
From Wikipedia:
The Mausoleum, which is the only Roman era building in Israel to still stand from its foundations to its roof, was built for an important Roman man and his wife in the 4rd century AD. Their identities remain a mystery but one can still see the remnants of two sarcophagi in the mausoleum.
I attached a WS with the explanatory plaque .
A second WS with closer view upon the small hatch-entrance decorated with pillars.
This edifice I noticed many times in the past when driving on this road, but only in recent years it was cleaned, excavated and named Israel's national heritage monument.
All pic.s are RAW, main photo is F10.0, 1/125, ISO100.

Hello Ike,
Interesting note about this ancient monument. It is well preserved, it seems intact in fact, but is it really the best preserved? I would think that in Israel there are many Roman buildings. It looks wonderful. The structure is very simple but with the elaborate columns. Excellent presentation, thanks for sharing.
Kind regards Malgo

Hello Ike,
This is a really beautiful little Roman mausoleum. The ancient architecture still looks so good and I particularly like the texture of the old walls. The sidelight was wonderful as well and added a very pleasant warm hue to the side of the building and also an appealing play of light and shadow.

Bonjour, cher Ike,

Hello Ike,
This little building looks remarkably well preserved. It is very elegant and you took the photo from a good angle where you could also catch the wonderful light shining on the side wall. In my opinion the well captured texture of the stones is the most attractive feature of the photo. The note and WS also provide important information.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Ike,
Impressive that this structure has survived all these years though no doubt it has had a little help from time to time. I like very much the warm colours and the beautifully rendered textural detail. The pastel blue sky a cool contrast tone wise.

Hi Ike,
The tight frame is putting the building in evidence. The point of view is showing the details of the architecture of the Mausoleum. The light is giving good rendering ogf the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike, a very interesting post, the plaque explains it all very clearly.
Looking at the low and small entry, I imagine that it could feel quite claustrophobic.
Your main shot is taken from a good angle, with sharp details.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Hello Ike,
A very nice presentation with a good light on the left facade giving the giant stones a beautiful colour.
It were really huge stones that were used for this mausoleum.
Taken from a good angle.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Ike,
It is a nifty, small building. It looks like it has been subject to a lot of erosion.

Hi Ike,
good idea to use the title which attracts more attention otherwise it would feel more like one of many ruins. But when one realizes how old it is and precious one can give it a better consideration I suppose.
Nice presentation, quite a well preserved structure indeed.
Have a great day,
M

Hello Ike,
I like it that we are both praising the skills of the Roman designers and craftsmen.
When this was built, the Roman occupation of Britain was just collapsing, as was the Roman Empire in general!.
You have given us a pin-sharp photograph of the mausoleum, nicely angled so that we can see the doorway, under the pillared canopy, and the openings, which I presume must have been for the pigeons.
Have a lovely Sunday,
Bev :-)

It is certainly the first Roman mausoleum that I see of this type, as a small house with an atrium, its state of preservation is magnificent.
Magnificent composition and color.
Excellent brightness and sharpness.
Well done. I love the photo.

A good angled pov on the 4th century mausoleum with excellent sharpness and texture. The Corinthian style columns are still distinguishable after many centuries. Tfs.

Hi Ike
this has been so well preserved, its as if it were recently built but with the intent to make it look rustic and aged. the WS photo and note really does help and makes the shot that much better, more info right! Imagine living in a home like this, incredible. cool subject. cheers

Ike, that old Roman building dating from the 4th century has resisted to the time, the erosion. It is still standing nowadays and protected as a national monument. It is built with cut stones. Good angle of capture.
