Photographer’s Note
My new filters have arrived this week, so as soon as the dust storm has finished I wanted to go out to test them. I have used only GND6 until now, but it limited me in time when I wanted to take some nice waterscape. I always had to wait till sun was fully set to get the full smooth effect of long exposure. I have ordered nutral density ND2 ND4 ND8 filters (full gray filters). Once the package was coming from US I added a set of graduated color filters too.
To get this result I found nice spot in Salmiya with view of sunset and took ND4 and graduated tobacco filters as the colors were not really intensive today, there was still too much dust in the air. I’m pleased with the result. I would have never achieved 8s exposure to get this silky effect with sun still that high. I use Cokin filters.

Hello Lucie,
your filters work great to create these great textures and a mysterious, eery atmosphere. I'm impressed how you get such sharpness of both foreground and background.

Jérôme

Hello Lucie! Very interesting picture. Good point of view. Original perspective. Nice lightness, nice delicate colors. Good effect. Well done!

I like this trick!
I see you've changed Canon to Pentax. I've also changed to Pentax - there are great old lenses fitting to new Pentax DSLRs... and the quality of body is much better then in C.

Hello Lucie,
Cette vue est tout à fait surréaliste. On a l'impression de contempler une peinture de science-fiction. Les couleurs très spéciales ajoutent à cet impression ! La profondeur de champ et la netteté sont sublimes !

Hi Lucie! Hope everything's great with you! :)
I checked your Flickr account and it looks great. I hope that your migration doesn't mean that you're quiting TE... I'll miss you here. Flickr is nice, specially because it has a great design and nice features for presentation, but TE is a much better community (at least I think so...). When I told you to explore other sites I was more talking about pbase than flickr. Flickr is a huge place and I don't know if the people that matters actually see flickr... If I were you, I would open a pbase account but post there only the best pictures. I see that you're using flickr to put everything there... :)
Now, concerning this one, I don't like it that much. I am not a great fan of there colored grads... ;) At least when they are so noticeable. And the violet vs chocolate doesn't evoke much poetry to me. The compo is a bit tight also, specially in the top. I wouldn't mind seeing a full vertical on this one. Anyway, one point for allowing you a even score. ;)

Hi Lucie,
very nice image, the foreground rocks being a great feature here, giving a good depth.

This is a very interesting shot - The long exposure gives the water a very smooth and glassy appearance. The colour is great too, very delicate and nuanced. I think the beat part of this is the different textures, especially the stones in the foreground. Outstanding work!

Hello Lucie
L'eau prend un aspect laiteux assez surprenant.
Joli dégradé de couleur.

Fantastic - indeed, almost metallic image which really couldn't look better.

Wow, the depth of field in this photo is incredible. The rocks appear so close, and the city skyline so far away, yet they are both perfectly sharp. I would usually agree with Luis about colored filters, but I think the effect of the tobacco filter is really nice here. The soft dusty colors are very fitting for Kuwait. The bluish hues in the foreground give the photo an extra something special.
Regards,
Ryan
P.S. You can play with Flickr, but I hope you never leave us here at TE.

Hello!
Nice to see you around here again. A beautiful and serene view of Kuwait. Colours and light are wonderful. I like the effects; I guess Ill have to get your advise regarding what filters I should get.
Otherwise I hope all is well with you. I think I am going to start poking the job market soon: any suggested websites would be apreciated.
Cheers
Daniel
