Photographer’s Note
Kuwaiti soldiers near the Iraqi border, a few days before the invasion. They shared their lunch with us, and we sat in the sand eating rice and chicken, trying to bridge the linguistic gulf between us. They were good guys, nice and friendly.
Oh yeah, and that's a lizard he's holding.
Sorry about the crappy quality; it's scanned from a 6x4" print - I couldn't find the negatives, unfortunately.

Fine vertical frame. I wonder if their faces aren't too dark...

Hello Ben,
I think this was definitely worth sharing as a piece of history and a nice memory of communication. Despite the grainy sky and background, the soldier in foreground is very sharp -- and he carries the story.

Mary

Never mind their faces in shadow. This is true history, Ben. I wish there were more posts like this on TE. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ben,
Going through your photos, I do get a better picture on what you were doing there... But still the question... An F80??!! :-)
Dennis
NB: A pity that you did not give it more space to the right. But still nice with the shallow focus!
