This was taken on a recent trip to Oman, an amazing country of expansive landscapes, beautiful people and a unique culture. We were driving through the coastal city of Sur when we saw these dhows resting on the water's edge in front of a gorgeous sunset - something we were often treated to on our visit there.

Sur is the boat building centre of Oman. Dhows, traditional wooden boats are still built by hand here. Visit Oman's Ministry of Information here to read more about this beautiful tradition.

Hi Cora, I really like the composition in this shot. I would like to have seen a bit more detail of the boat, rather than just the silouette, but more out of interest in the boat than from a photographic view. cheers, Steve

Oeh, shadows, darkness, silouettes. So strong. Nice nice nice.
I like it that you kept it dark and with the noise you get in shadows. It makes it natural. I like it!
