Photographer’s Note

While on a short visit to Oman, I went to the town of Salalah, which is located about 1200 km from Muscat, heading south-west along the coast. Salalah is positioned on the Indian Ocean, therefore is fairly tropical, with tall palms along the beaches. The weather here is very different to Muscat, which as you know is a very hot, desert-like environment.
Salalah is known to have a fair amount of rain, and is often covered by heavy mist which aids to growth of lush vegetation.
This photo was taken at one of the open, non-commercialised beaches....the norm for this quiet town....and here these locals were bringing in their catch with the use of vehicles. Their large fishing net is rowed out along the beach area, and then hauled in by tying the net to two 4 x 4 vehicles, which then pull in the net by reversing the vehicles in a series of manouvres up the beach.
I took this image at sunset, without the use of a filter, but I have adjusted the colour slightly adding some orange to the image.
