As a follow-on to my last image, this shot was taken in the Oman mountains, about 50kms away from Kasab. We actually missed the road that we were planning to be on, and eventually climbed up and up (by Jeep), through small local villages, and at around sun down we found this fantastic valley. What this image doesn't show is that these mountains literally surrounded us, and right behind me is a rugged mountainside where we explored deserted cave-dwellings.
Coming from Africa, I can honestly say that this is almost identical to African savannah-type country-side, with these acacia thorn trees dotted around the valley.
This was taken early morning as the sun's rays hit the mountain in the background.....I'll definitely go back. |

Gold is right! That's a perfect way to describe it. The colors of deserts are just fantastic, and the best part is that they change throughout the day; you can take shots in different lighting conditions and they often don't even look like the same place. I think you captured that here very effecively. It almost looks like a painting...
sky - same - way too overexposed - sort of a fake blue
