Photographer’s Note
The skyline of the Doha has changed dramatically in recent years and the addition of the Kassem Darwish Fakhroo Centre has certainly added architectural spice to the Qatar capital’s appeal. The spiral minaret tower that rises above the souks at the intersection of Grand Hamad Street and Abdullah bin Jassim Street is not typical gulf area architecture and has become a major focal point in the heart of the city – it is, in fact, styled on a tower in Samarra, Iraq, which is more than 1,000 years old. Beneath the tower is a multi-purpose facility including a centre for Islam and includes lecture theatres, offices, a mosque and department stores; the building is also home of the Qatar Centre for the Presentation of Islam, offering courses in the Arabic language and in Islamic studies.

Please note that this shot was taken hand held, ISO 400 and antishake function on. I dont think I could have captured it without tripod with my previous camera.

Hi Lucie, the composition is clean and simple with very good contrasting colour, with great light. The detail is sharp, with very clean lines. Very nice presentation.
Thanks, John

Hi Lucie!
I have a real hard time to pronounce your family name... :-P) Actually, it was even a piece of conversation during a TE meeting.
Okay, there is a big dust spot right there in the sky and also some vignetting problems, both easily correctable, but more importantly, this is a gorgeous and exotic building beautifully photographed. The blue hour seems the perfect way to present it under the best possible conditions.
Cheers!

Hi Lucie;
The composition is quite good and the contrast of the orangish spire against the evening sky is quite effective. Sharp detail and a nice frame- but the tower seems to be leaning a bit to the left...
Cheers,

Hi Lucie,
Nice compo with the off-center tower and the pleasant blue.
An amazing structure. Is that spiral really a stairway?! Jeez, that's a long long walk :-).
Greetings, Dennis

hi Lucie
Quite a pleasant thing to do visiting your gallery of photos from your extensive travels. Your style is very attractive in capturing landscapes. Complimentary as such so that perhaps it gives us a good model to learn how photography skills can develop as to light+vision and composition.
While the sky is plain mono color, it contrasts well with the texture and tone of the walls in this building. The curves and lines are what make it interesting.

Hi Lucie
How are you doing?
Great photo showing this building beautifully. Love the golden light against the darsk sky.
Well done. How is it you left canonland for pentaxland? I am sure you will be back one day.
Not much has changed here, need to get organized in my life in order to make changes happen.
Cheers

Hi Lucinka!
your pictures are always caracterized by an excellent management of the light and colors, and this one is not an exception.
Look at the the sensor of your camera, I think you have to clean it.

Hello Lucie,
Superbe architecture en spirale. La lumière de l'éclairage met bien en valeur le batiment et tu as choisi le bon moment pour saisir ce beau batiment.
A+

Do I see an ugly spot on your sensor ? :-)

Hi Lucie,
A very pleasant ornge-blue combination of colors to show us this superb architecture! But that litlle spot and the vignetting on the left is really eye-catching and distracting.
Cheers.
Bibi
