Photographer's Note

Most of the ruins at Asklepion were constructed in white marble, so this dark stone immediately caught my eye. Asklepion is close to the current town of Bergama and not far from Pergamum. It was a former medical University. Most of the site dates from the 2nd century AD under the Romans, but there had been a sacred site here since the 4th century BC under the ancient Greeks.
