Photographer’s Note
The old city centre of Soma, Manisa province, Western Turkey.
Despite its proximity to the Aegaen Coast, it was a cold place when I visited it.
Soma was and is still a coal mining city. Like in many other small towns in Turkey the oldest part of the town is neglected and crumbling away.
