Photographer’s Note

Cacabey Mosque was originally a "Medrese", a higher education school constructed in 1271 - 1272. The school was especially famous for its astronomical studies. Now only the mosque remains of this school complex. The building was buit by Cacabey, a Turkish, Seljukid commander who ruled this area and died in 1301 while fighting the Byzantines.

The photo shows the top part of the monumental entrance of the mosque where you can see Seljukid Turkish style stonework and the dedication inscription of the building.
