This is the second photo of the Turkish Shadow Puppet Performance that I took in one of the Primary Schools. This performance is also known as Karagoz and Hacivat in Turkey.

This is another backstage frame. In the previous photo, you were able to see the general view, this one and the following one will be showing the details. They are all taken during the performance.

The puppeteers: Atay Altin, his role is the "Imaginary" (Hayali). He is in charge of moving the design on the curtain, voicing them, making dialects or imitations. The sketches and plays are funny elements with double meanings, exaggerations, verbal plays, and imitating accents. He always uses satire and irony. His daughter, Damla Altin, is the assistant (Yardak)is playing tambourine (tef in Turkish)and arranging/organising the puppets/music.

The story of how these wonderful people volunteered in Educational Volunteers is pretty interesting. Damla, a volunteer of the Educational Volunteers Foundation, is going to Europe for apprenticeship via an exchange program. Her last wish before she goes was to perform as the assistant of her father in the Turkish Shadow Puppet: Karagoz and Hacivat. His father being trained in this specialed area, trained his daughter as the assistant in advance.

They came and had this wonderful small request. Damla, who is our active volunteer, was going to share very special moments with her father...also the children were going to have fun and learn more about the Shadow puppets....

So it was inevitable to create an atmosphere like this with all the willing and demand:):):)
