Photographer’s Note
Somkaya village, about 40km from Dogubayazit ; visible in the distance, the mount Ararat (I had to enhance slightly its colour as it was very hazy most of the time, less visible than previous year).
Please, click on the large version to see (more visible to the right) plenty of tiny villagers and various cattle - not a perfect image, not satisfied with the sharpness etc, but I thought that it is informative even if not specially esthetical. (Here, a slightly closer look).
In most such villages I could find accomodations with families but it was the 2nd time that I was hosted by an imam (here, his wife as he was absent) and the first time that I could sleep inside the prayer hall of the mosque that you can see on this view (2 photos).

Bonjour Catherine,

Hi Cath,
I like this large version of the village a lot. Very nice details and typical "scattered" houses of the place. The light was really with you....
I think this kind of sequence would be very good to present your travelouge:
1-preperations
2-on the road
3-arrival and a big picture (this kind of large landscapes, if possible)
4-first impressions, walking in the streets, meeting people
5-hospitality, invitation to the house
6-the house people
7-neighbours
8-daily life, rituals, events
9-other details of the place
i pondered a bit, and ended up with such a "to do" list. what do you think? of course, unless going in chronological order bothers you...

Salut Catherine
Good choice of a wide angled, panoramic format, with superb sharpness & colour contrasts. Merci, et amities!

Catherine: subtle balance of light - but a perectly relevant TE file - after all, it conveys a culture 'in situ', and the landscape surrounding. green on the way, c
