Photographer’s Note
Above the small town of Osmaneli, Bilecik province, Western Turkey towers this abandoned greek-orthodox cathedral. Until World War it was the place of worship of the sizeable greek community of Osmaneli (then called by its greek name "Lefke").
The building is from the nineteenth century. It is said to be designed by a Hungarian architect, although I did not see proof of it.
Osmaneli attracts few tourists, although it is certainly worthwhile to visit. There are dozens of houses from the Ottoman period, some of them carefully restored, others in decay. The small quiet streets respire history.
