Photographer's Note

The Maiden's Tower stands on a small islet in the Bosphorus, between the Asian and European continents.

According to historians, it was used as a medieval maritime toll-booth, a convenient place for ships passing through the Bosphorus to pay duty on the goods they transported through the Byzantine emperor's domains.

Today, there is a restaurant in the first floor and a café at the top of the tower.
