Photographer's Note

As I'd already written, Istanbul was a stopover on my way back from Syria and Jordan, and it's in Istanbul that you can symbolically return from Asia to Europe - it's enough to go to the other side of the Bosphorus bridge which you can see in the backgroud. Symbolically- as it's only a geographical line that divides Istanbul into those two parts, to me the city seemed much closer to Europe...
I took this shot also on a ferry from Eminou to Harem where I wanted to see the sunset over the Sultanahmet area. The tower you can see there is the Leander's Tower (known to the Turks as Maiden's Tower) .The tower was first built by Alkibiades in the 6th century BC and around 350 BC a Macedonian admiral built a mausoleum for his dead wife here.
It was also the setting for the hideout of Elektra in the James Bond film "The World Is Not Enough".

There is no way I can remove the tilt from the bridge- the foreground is even...but perhaps it's a natural tilt of the bridge- if anybody knows, let me know too.
