Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken last week at Coppersmith’s Bazaar/Gaziantep.

He makes cauldron or caldron (a large metal kettle for cooking and/or boiling over an open fire) by forging the copper with wooden mallet.

You can see coppersmith works, mother of pearl workings, traditional shoe makings, cloth makings, stone workings, antique weapons, gold and silver works at Coppersmith's Bazaar.

I like the framing of the scene and the movement of the arm well transmitted by the blur, but here you have been too slow because also the head is blurred, which should not be.

You grabbed the movement of hammer fantastically. You caught a good shot under difficult light conditions. Choice of color is wonderful. The voice the hammer makes when hitting copper swirlves around my ears. The details of the cushion under is caught great. Light management and contrast is well-balanced. The details of copper can be seen gorgeously. Background is very clean and it does not exhaust the eye. I also want to shoot such a picture.

Hi, Ali. Nice portrait of a craftsman at work. You've gone for a framing which creates diagonal lines in the image. The movement is well rendered and the dark background brings out the scene of the working man well. Maybe the head could have been sharper with a faster speed.

des lumières très difficiles occasionnant des temps de pose qui ne permettent pas au photographe de bouger. Par contre au niveau du sujet, le dynamisme et le mouvement ressortent très bien.

Your coppersmith is really impressive in shaping copper and making it a usuful utility. The b/w adds a nice metaphorical essence to the traditional craft and the dark shadows render a dramatic effect to it. Well composed with great attention to the details.
