Photographer’s Note

In Ephèse, I look at the windows of the past.
The old libraries are held upright.
It defy time to be made forgive.
They lost what they were to protect.
The old relics left in fume.
Then, I read in the stone.
I look at the lines.
And I think of the past.

Hi Bertrand. I like the straight-on POV. The sharpness brings out some great textures. Nice combination of light and shadows. Too bad about the very top of it getting chopped off. Nice shot and Merry Christmas Bertrand!

Good idea to fill the frame with this structure, Bertrand--it has enough interest all by itself. Even though the angle of light is high, it works well because of all the interesting shadows that provide depth and three-dimensionality. (But you might not want the building to actually touch the frame at the top.) Merry Christmas! Regards, Ken.

Merry Xmas Bertrand - a familiar subject but well presented, great geometry, I like the way the building fills the entire frame, and don't mind if the top is touching the frame in this case, a great shot from less than 1 hour away from where I was born.

Bonjour Bertrand,
How nice to see you again. And from a place that surprises me. I have a couple of shots from this place, but never got to post them...
The composition of this façade, the highlight of this place I supposed (although the anfiteatrum is wonderful as well), is very good, so well balanced. May be a little more of sky, but I'm not sure...
Was this place crowded in 2002? It was one of the most crowded places I've ever been - And I was there on the morning opening!
A very pleasant postcard, along with the usual interesting note!
Merci,
Amitiés,
Have a nice Christmas day,
Ricardo

Very frontal composition. The holes on the window of the ruins give a nice effect. The only think that needs is a little rotation to straighten the horizon. The rest is perfect. Very well done. Best regards and happy Christmas, Gabriel

Salut Bertrand,

Hi Bertrand,
A well composed shot of this ancient building. I like the mystique created here by the macro view and the way the sky intrudes through the windows. Great lines and graphics and clarity of detail throughout. Very pleasing work. Regards.
